ALTERNA COMICS gets newsstand distribution deal

Image
Alterna Comics titles are coming to newsstands across the world!   We've signed a deal with PDG, a newsstand specialty market distributor, to distribute our titles to specialty stores, convenience stores, independent shops, and also to Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million and other smaller bookstore chains.   There are 2 key factors to this deal:   1)  Issues will be released to newsstand 2 to 3 months after they're released in comic shops.  Even then, newsstands will only receive between 2 to 5 copies per issue, so if you want your copy guaranteed, make sure to pre-order at your LCS!   2)  Most of the newsstands are located 10+ miles from a comic shop.  We want to grow an audience not force customers to choose between getting our titles at a bookstore or at their favorite comic shop.  If you already get your comics at a comic shop, by all means, please continue to do so!   We strongly feel that comics need to be...

New Comic Wednesday Advance Review: HARBINGER RENEGADE #5

Image
HARBINGER RENEGADE #5 (Valiant Entertainment, July 12 release date) “Massacre, Part 1”.  Written by Rafer Roberts.  Art by Darick Robertson.  Inks by Richard Clark.  Colors by Diego Rodriguez.  Letters by Simon Bowland.  FOR MATURE READERS.        The advance press for HARBINGER RENEGADE #5, the prelude to HARBINGER WARS II, made frequent mention of the death of a major hero in this issue.  I’m certainly not going to spoil it by revealing anything here except to say — if you read the HARBINGER first series issue where Flamingo was killed - - prepare yourself. You haven’t seen anything like this before. Unlike other publishers, I trust Valiant to keep characters permanently deceased when they get killed. (I’m a little bit sad over this because I actually like the characters involved. Yes, it’s not singular.)  The story arc is titled “Massacre” and there’s a good reason for that - -  I’m more inclined to call it “Blood Bath”!      In another bold move, the first issue of HARBING...

Trade Paperback Review: HARBINGER RENEGADE VOLUME ONE

Image
HARBINGER RENEGADE VOL 1: THE JUDGMENT OF SOLOMON TPB  (Valiant Entertainment, 2017) Collects HARBINGER RENEGADE #1-4 from November 2016 - February 2017. Writer: Rafer Roberts. Artists: Juan Jose Ryp (prologues, all issues), Darick Robertson with Richard Clark (main story, all issues), Art and Lettering: Raul Allen and Patricia Martin (introduction, issue #1).  Colorists: Frankie D’Armata (prologues, all issues), Diego Rodriguez (main story, issue #1, 2), Diego Rodriguez and Brian Reber (main story, issue #3), Brian Reber (main story, issue #4).  Letterer: Dave Lanphear (all issues).        HARBINGER RENEGADE started out amazing and maintained that consistency throughout the first four-issue story arc. The first HARBINGER series (written by Joshua Dysart) was, in my opinion, the very best of Valiant’s return to comics publishing.  I also called it the best re-boot series of 2012.       Now, I’m giving serious consideration to nominating HARBINGER RENEGADE for the new RINGO AWARDS ...
