Blackest Night is shaping up to be the major "event" that DC's been wanting for awhile, and that scene showed that it can even have a little heart to it, as well.Shanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09526065680698553188noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-597330685028834268.post-43776790486244174712009-08-05T15:59:34.854-04:002009-08-05T15:59:34.854-04:00On a completely different topic, according to Ster...On a completely different topic, according to Sterling Gates' most recent interview at Newsarama that is Jonathan (Mon-El) Kent in the Science Police segment of Superman #690.Jeff Metznerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14999238508906021766noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-597330685028834268.post-11863945910848981002009-08-05T14:57:03.180-04:002009-08-05T14:57:03.180-04:00Yeah, I'm just picking at it for fun too -- it...Yeah, I'm just picking at it for fun too -- it's actually one of my favorite scenes in Blackest Night #1. That said, I thought BB's appearances in the Crisis series itself were the Earth-whatever version of Ted Kord and then Blue Beetle #1 was about the post-Crisis merged-Earth version. So, they don't necessarily have to match up.

But you're probably right anyway -- even if they said in BB #1 that Garrett had only been dead for a few months it still would have been while Barry was still alive.Jeff Metznerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14999238508906021766noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-597330685028834268.post-60458411154414724042009-08-05T14:26:04.961-04:002009-08-05T14:26:04.961-04:00Well, Ted Kord was active as Blue Beetle during an...Well, Ted Kord was active as Blue Beetle during and before Crisis on Infinite Earths. He did not begin his adventuring as Blue Beetle until Dan Garrett died. So either his appearances in Crisis are no longer in continuity, or something's wrong!

But, this is just me being nitpicky, it doesn't exactly impact the story one way or another.Shanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09526065680698553188noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-597330685028834268.post-53016225039957025722009-08-05T13:01:51.953-04:002009-08-05T13:01:51.953-04:00I didn't even notice that one! Obviously it's wrong in real time, but Blue Beetle #1 came out after Crisis and I don't remember how far in the past they said Garrett's death was in the DCU timeline.Jeff Metznerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14999238508906021766noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-597330685028834268.post-13302414422085029592009-08-05T12:15:52.877-04:002009-08-05T12:15:52.877-04:00Pffft, come on, if we're going to nitpick, thi...Pffft, come on, if we're going to nitpick, this isn't nearly as bad as Dan Garrett being shown as dying after Barry Allen!Shanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09526065680698553188noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-597330685028834268.post-34295609372493604432009-08-05T09:05:33.383-04:002009-08-05T09:05:33.383-04:00That's the panel that got me -- Guy's show...That's the panel that got me -- Guy's shown in the uniform he didn't get until Crisis, and Arisia's not a Green Lantern yet. I remember her as being a GL at least a year before Crisis, because "GL Corps" started after Crisis and she was an established character then. On the other hand, there have been two Crises since then so they may have changed it on purpose.Jeff Metznerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14999238508906021766noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-597330685028834268.post-60697244907593881132009-08-05T00:36:21.812-04:002009-08-05T00:36:21.812-04:00Guy Gardner was probably a GL before Arisia joined...Guy Gardner was probably a GL before Arisia joined, but only as a backup who then had a power battery explode in his face that sent him to an extended whacked out stay in the phantom zone, until of course he got rescued and lapsed into a coma until the crisis on infinite earths, when a renegade band of guardians brought him out of his coma (a little bit crazier than he was before) in order to recruit an army to destroy the base of the anti-monitor's operations. That scene could have occured after the crisis. Although I really didn't find I enjoyed that story. It was as if Peter Tomasi had never read an Arisia story before.reedsolomon.matr1x at gmail.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17833240911634788354noreply@blogger.com
